15 Dec Underground Drains
Dear Patron,
Maybe you have just cleaned the gutters and downspouts on your home. And have gutter guards which are well secured. And have leaders that connect the gutters from different floors nicely together. And all of the gutters are pitched so that the water drains the correct way. But at the opening of the lowest downspout, the water falls right into your yard, perhaps onto your driveway or into your grass or onto a walkway with pavers. This spilling defeats the purpose of having gutters which are meant to drain the water away from your home. Years of this could alter the foundation of your home. This is why NJ Home Maintenance Services recommends and installs underground drains.
Underground drains are made of PVC or corrugated pipe and run underground from the downspout that goes straight into the ground and drains out at an opening somewhere in the yard or into the street. This requires us to dig up a route in the yard and sometimes break through the concrete of the curb. Underground drains ensure that water from gutters is drained far away from the home. It is also important to mark the gas and water lines in the yard in order to avoid damaging them during the installation.
